Here’s a preview of our new Ammonite Audio CNC-machined modular arm boards for Technics SL-1200 turntables, including old SL-1200/1210s as well as the new SL-1200GAE, SL-1200G and SL-1200GR. We will initially be offering them with centre plates to suit 9″ Jelco and SME tonearms, but most likely blank plates too, depending on demand. The centre plates are set at different depths to ensure that either type of arm will go as low as necessary (quite important on these decks). All fixings are from underneath, so invisible once fitted.  Have a look in our gallery for some more pictures.

This photo shows a prototype SME armboard with silky black anodised finish – the production boards will be available in either bright silver or satin black to match the new SL-1200G/GAE/GR as well as the SL-1210 variants. The machining and finish is to the same luxurious standard as our improved Jelco collars. We have tried to re-create some really nice design details from the original Technics arm surround, such as the tiny square step at the outer edge.

There’s a little design tweakage still to be done, but so far, looking very good. Retail pricing is expected to be around £225 including UK VAT and delivery, but the volatile £/€ exchange rate may mean a slightly higher price by the time full production begins. So, this is not a cheap option for Technics owners wishing to upgrade their SL-1200 decks, but we’re confident that it will be the smartest and best sounding arm board available for SL-1200s, both old and new.

These armboards will be available here at Ammonite Audio and from Sound HiFi in Dartmouth, hopefully by the end of January 2018.
