Here we have a special bundle deal, consisting of the Soulines Kubrick DCX turntable, with Timestep T-609 tonearm, and a Timestep T-01HS machined ebony headshell, priced together at £4350. The normal retail price of these components comes to £4639.95 so this deal represents a genuine saving of more than £700.
Soulines Kubrick DCX Turntable
Inspired by the Stanley Kubrick classic “2001: A Space Odyssey”, the Kubrick DCX turntable is conceived as smooth looking musical “space” object. This is Soulines’ most advanced turntable to date. Building around their inverted main bearing and Acrylic platter, developed for the Hermes DCX model, Soulines designed a highly rigid aluminium plinth and sub-plinth, built from differently shaped layers-blocks, coupled together and strategically damped.
Design (dimensions, shape and arrangement of different openings/holes) of plinth and sub-plinth aluminium blocks employs the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci sequence, thus gaining uniform vibration damping and the reduction of the Moment of inertia in all three planes (along all three axes) to the Centre of mass. Although the Kubrick DCX looks asymmetrical or unbalanced, it is in fact perfectly balanced, providing smooth platter rotation and steady tracking.
The drive mechanism utilises a high quality DC motor optimised for turntable use. Along with an easy operation and fine speed adjustment feature, an electronically controlled power supply provides stable current for smooth motor rotation. The inverted main bearing, machined from solid brass and stainless steel to extremely high precision, and solid aluminium arm-board are mounted directly on the sub plinth which is in turn 3-point de-coupled from the main plinth in order to maximise performance and minimise acoustic break through. The motor assembly is mounted on the main plinth.
The turntable is supported by three adjustable cones machined from solid aluminium to allow levelling and provide optimum coupling to the surface that it sits on. Supporting cones are coupled to the main plinth by means of rubber-cork washers of different diameters, providing better vibration transmitting control.
A high-performance rubber-cork mat and the Protractor LP (a cartridge alignment tool) are supplied as standard. To allow easy VTA setting (for the tone-arms without this feature), two sets of spacers of 6 and 8mm, are supplied.

Timestep T-609 Tonearm
Here we have Timestep’s new ‘banana’ shaped T-609 tonearm, which has an effective length of 9″ (10″ and 12″ versions are available too, but not for this bundle deal). Built to Timestep’s unique specifications by an OEM manufacturer in Western Europe, the result is a tonearm of upper medium-high effective mass that is easy to handle and use, is suitable for use with a broad range of cartridges, and which sounds sublime. Paired with a good quality high mass headshell like the Timestep T-01HS included here, the T-609 works beautifully with low compliance cartridges and particularly the Miyajima stereo and mono cartridges.
Design fashion in moving coil cartridges has changed over the years and now the very best (in our opinion) are pretty much all low compliance designs, and such cartridges including Koetsu, Transfiguration, Miyajima and many others require a high mass arm. Very often these things will simply not come ‘on song’ with lighter arms such as the venerable SME designs and the result can be disappointing – not so with the Timestep arms which will truly liberate these great cartridges to deliver deep, musical and expressive sounds. This new Timestep arm was developed a couple of years ago using modern technology, washed ceramic bearings, silver wire, titanium armtube, full PTFE & gold base connector, the list goes on. The Timestep arm is not a 35 year old design, it is a new and cutting edge design.
