VAT and Shipping to EU Countries

Since the UK finally parted from the European Union on 1 January 2021, our EU customers are often still confused about VAT and how much they have to pay, when buying from Ammonite Audio.  In particular, customers often believe that they will end up paying UK VAT as well as local VAT in their own country when they receive the order.  This is not the case!

So, if you live in the EU and wish to buy something from us, the UK 20% VAT is automatically deducted at the checkout, when you select any country other than the UK.

When you receive the order, you will be required to pay VAT at whatever local rate applies for your country, so 19% for Germany, 20% for France etc.  The postal/courier company will add a handling charge, but we prefer to use DPD and that charge is typically €7.  We can often arrange with DPD for all the charges to be paid in advance, so you get the order within a couple of days.

So, for EU buyers, the only additional charge that you pay now, which you did not before Brexit, is that (approximately €7) handling charge.

We at Ammonite Audio did not choose Brexit and we are proud to continue doing business with suppliers in the EU.  We have to make the best of the situation, and we will always welcome customers from EU countries!
